Los Cristianos is one of the island’s most visited towns. It is in the south of Tenerife in the Arona municipality, just 15 minutes from Tenerife South Airport. The excellent beaches along its coastline, the unbeatable leisure offering, the extraordinary setting, and the outstanding weather combine to make it such a popular destination.
Not long ago, it was a humble fishing village. Over time, its economic activity has evolved toward tourism, but there are still remnants of the town’s fishing past. The best example is its port, which has moved from mooring small fishing boats to being the main commercial port in the south of Tenerife.
Much of the daytime and night-time life in Los Cristianos takes place along the long promenade which connects the town with Las Americas.
Los Cristianos is one of the go-to tourist destinations in Tenerife. It is the destination of choice for thousands of people every year for their stay on the island. You’ll find hotels, apartments, and rental properties throughout the town.

Places of interest
Most activity in Los Cristianos takes place along its promenade, which is a wide avenue full of bars, pubs, and restaurants offering dishes from around the world, including of course the typical Canarian cuisine.
In and around the town, you’ll find places of interest like the Montaña de Guaza, a former volcano rising over 400m high which has been declared a Protected Area. There are paths up the mountain which make for a magnificent climb to the summit, which is an excellent viewpoint over the town.
Other places of interest in the area include Monkey Park Tenerife, a small zoo which breeds primates at risk of extinction, as well as other species. You can also visit Jungle Park, a miniature rainforest which is ideal to visit with your little ones. Other recommended places in Los Cristianos include the Arona Historical Centre, Camel Park, the beaches, and the seafront in Las Americas.
Los Cristianos Port
This is the largest commercial port in the south of the island. Ferries leave from here to the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma.
It is also a mooring point for private boats, as well as the point of departure for many excursions at sea, like whale and dolphin watching.
It is located in a natural bay, just next to the main beach of the town.
There are two beaches in the town – Playa de Las Vistas and Playa de Los Cristianos, which are two of the best on the island. They are just next to each other, adjacent to the long promenade which stretches along the edge of the town.
In addition to these two, the south of the island is full of spectacular beaches and natural pools. You can take a look at all of the beaches in Tenerife via this link.
Los Cristianos has one of the liveliest night-time atmospheres on the island, especially during the summer. The huge influx of tourists and the concentration of bars makes the town a safe bet for a good night.
There are venues for all tastes: cocktail bars, pubs, clubs, and live music venues are some of the options. Most of the nightlife centres around the Paseo de las Vistas and Avenida La Habana, just next to Playa de Las Vistas.
