Santa Cruz is one of the largest municipalities in Tenerife. It is on the far east of the island and is popular because its main town is Tenerife’s capital.
It is not the island’s most visited place. Visitors to Tenerife usually prefer the south or certain parts of the north, but it is still a municipality full of appeal which makes it worth a visit. Its old town is celebrated for its culture and shopping, the entertainment on offer and its emblematic buildings.
But Santa Cruz de Tenerife spreads much further than its town centre, and within the municipal borders you’ll find popular spots like the Playa de Las Teresitas and the Anaga Country Park, one the island’s most cherished natural spaces, with its brilliant hiking routes.
Santa Cruz is a region that is full of life. Throughout the year, you’ll be able to enjoy various festivals and events, like the Carnival, the Cruces de Mayo or its Sunday flea market.
The food in Santa Cruz is incredible, both in the centre, where you’ll find restaurants and bars for all tastes, as well as in the suburbs, in areas like San Andrés, for great traditional meals.
