{"id":882,"date":"2023-05-02T21:28:22","date_gmt":"2023-05-02T20:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=882"},"modified":"2023-05-02T21:28:22","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T20:28:22","slug":"taganana","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/taganana\/","title":{"rendered":"Taganana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Taganana<\/strong> is a small mountain town in the far northeast of Tenerife, within the <strong>Anaga Country Park<\/strong>, one of the island\u2019s natural jewels.<\/p>\n<p>It was officially founded in the 16th century after the arrival of Castilian settlers, although the area was already inhabited by pre-Hispanic settlers before the conquest. The town stands out and is popular for its traditional architecture, its mountainous landscapes and the laurel forest that dominates this part of Tenerife.<\/p><div id=\"goten-1753627783\" class=\"goten-content_2 goten-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0088719563045673\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0088719563045673\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Its natural setting means that <strong>several hiking trails<\/strong> come together here, among which the <strong>PR-TF 4 trail<\/strong> stands out, a route of just over 3km, which descends from El Bailadero to Taganana, of medium difficulty and with a significant total drop in elevation. The <strong>PR-TF 8 trail<\/strong> is a circular route that begins in the Afur hamlet and goes down the Afur ravine until it reaches Tamadite, a small, hidden beach of black sand and rocks that few know about. From there, the route continues upwards to the Caser\u00edo del Chorro and Taganana to end where it began back in Afur.<\/p>\n<h2>Points of Interest<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Church of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de las Nieves<\/strong>. Dates from the 16th Century and venerates the Lady of the Snows, the town\u2019s patron saint. It is the seat of the Taganana parish, one of the first founded on the island after the Castilian conquest. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and houses numerous examples of Catholic imagery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ermita de Santa Catalina<\/strong> (<em>Hermitage of Saint Catherine<\/em>). Small 17th Century Catholic hermitage in which the image of Santa Catalina M\u00e1rtir de Alejandr\u00eda, patron saint of Taganana, is venerated. The chapel has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/roque-las-bodegas\/\"><strong>Roque de las Bodegas<\/strong><\/a>. Black sand and rocky beach on Taganana\u2019s coast, close to the town centre. Nearby, you can also find other beaches like Benijo and Alm\u00e1ciga.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/el-bailadero-viewpoint\/\"><strong>El Bailadero Viewpoint<\/strong><\/a>. Located on the TF-123 road, which is reached via an exit on the TF-12 road. It offers amazing views of Taganana.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/anaga\/\"><strong>Anaga Country Park<\/strong><\/a>. One of the natural jewels of Tenerife and completely encompasses the town. It is part of its spirit, and you cannot visit Taganana without visiting Anaga.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to get to Taganana<\/h2>\n<p>You can get to the town via the <strong>TF-134<\/strong> highway, which descends from the Anaga Mountains to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/benijo\/\">Benijo<\/a> coast, passing through Taganana. Prior to this, you have to take the <strong>TF-12<\/strong>, which connects the fishing town San Andr\u00e9s with La Laguna, crossing a large part of the Anaga Country Park.
