It stretches for around 17 kilometres, of which 250m is open for the public to explore the insides of <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/north-tenerife\/\">Northern Tenerife<\/a> and the valley of <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/listing-region\/icod-de-los-vinos\/\">Icod de los Vinos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It has a small but informative Visitor Centre, with information panels in various language to outline to intricacies of the cave, such as its wonderful geomorphological marvels, its chasms, and its lava terraces which are spread throughout the tunnel.<\/p><div id=\"goten-1840861837\" class=\"goten-content_2 goten-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0088719563045673\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0088719563045673\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Visiting Cueva del Viento<\/h2>\n<p>Tours are carried out in groups and are accompanied by a guide who unveils the cave\u2019s secrets. It is recommended to wear suitable clothing, with long trousers and walking boots or trainers. The walk lasts around 2 hours and is moderately challenging.<\/p>\n<p>The tour starts in the Visitor Centre, from which a vehicle transports the group to the cave. The journey passes through various external paths before accessing the volcanic tubes. It is strongly recommended to reserve a place in advance to ensure that you are guaranteed a place on the group tour.<\/p>\n<h2>Origins of the Cueva del Viento<\/h2>\n<p>The <em>Cueva del Viento<\/em> is the result of the lava flows from the Pico Viejo volcano, a 3000m high volcano located near to Mount Teide.<\/p>\n<p>The cave is hugely <strong>interesting for biologists and palaeontologists<\/strong>, due to the findings of various fossilised remains of animals that lived <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/\">on the island<\/a> in the pre-Hispanic era, and even remains of guanches, the island\u2019s indigenous population who lived there before the Spanish conquest.<\/p>\n<p>The cave has 7 entry points and 3 superimposed levels, which are connected by various volcanic tube caves, like the <em>Cueva Bel\u00e9n<\/em>, the <em>Cueva del Sobrado<\/em>, the <em>Cueva de las Breveritas<\/em>, and the <em>Cueva de los Piquetes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Opening Hours and Prices<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Tickets cost \u20ac20 for adults and \u20ac8.50 for children (5-12 years old).<\/li>\n<li>Children under 5 are unable to enter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The visitor centre is open daily from 9am-4pm.
