{"id":64,"date":"2019-10-05T13:01:25","date_gmt":"2019-10-05T12:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=64"},"modified":"2022-04-10T14:49:50","modified_gmt":"2022-04-10T13:49:50","slug":"botanical-gardens","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/botanical-gardens\/","title":{"rendered":"Botanical Gardens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Botanical Gardens<\/strong> (<em>Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico<\/em>) are in <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/puerto-de-la-cruz\/\">Puerto de la Cruz<\/a>, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/north-tenerife\/\">north of Tenerife<\/a>. It was built and opened in the late 18th Century on the orders of King Charles III of Spain. Today, it covers over 20,000m2 of pure beauty.<\/p>\n<p>Its official name is the La Orotava Climatisation Garden (<em>Jard\u00edn de Aclimataci\u00f3n de La Orotava<\/em>) as what is now Puerto de la Cruz used to be part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/listing-region\/la-orotava\/\">La Orotava municipality<\/a>. Due to the confusion that this name might cause, it is commonly known as <em>El Bot\u00e1nico<\/em> or <em>Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico<\/em>.<\/p><div id=\"goten-4173659488\" class=\"goten-content_2 goten-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0088719563045673\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0088719563045673\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<h2>A bit of history<\/h2>\n<p>The project was born with the idea of bringing exotic plants from the New World \u2013 America \u2013 and that <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/\">Tenerife<\/a> would serve as a climatization centre before their journey to the Iberian Peninsula \u2013 hence its official name. However, the project didn\u2019t work as planned due to the differences in climate between the Canary Islands and Iberian Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, the Garden continued to function and still stands today, where it is one of the most spectacular botanical gardens throughout all of Spain.<\/p>\n<h2>Unique gardens<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Puerto de la Cruz Botanical Gardens<\/strong> holds and receives hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and is where you can find a large collection of native plants, as well as vast collections of tropical and subtropical plants that have adapted perfectly to the island\u2019s climate, despite rarely being found in this part of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The paths in the garden zigzag through a full repertoire of colours and lovely scents, under the shadows of its imposing trees and palms, and with the purest air that you can find on the island.<\/p>\n<h2>Opening times and prices<\/h2>\n<p>The price to enter the park is \u20ac3.00.
