{"id":491,"date":"2022-05-06T15:52:10","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T14:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=491"},"modified":"2022-12-04T22:22:49","modified_gmt":"2022-12-04T22:22:49","slug":"iberian-america-craft-museum","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/iberian-america-craft-museum\/","title":{"rendered":"Museum of Ibero-American Crafts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Museum of Ibero-American Crafts<\/strong> (<strong>MAIT<\/strong>) is a space dedicated to the conservation of craftsmanship from the Iberian-American world, focusing primarily on handicrafts from the Canary Islands.<\/p>\n<p>It is located in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/villa-la-orotava\/\">La Orotava<\/a>, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/north-tenerife\/\">north of Tenerife<\/a>, and constitutes one of the most striking buildings in the town \u2013 the former convent of San Benido Abad, which is a late 16th century building that serves as a perfect example of the archipelago\u2019s religious architecture.<\/p><div id=\"goten-2698815491\" class=\"goten-content_2 goten-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0088719563045673\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0088719563045673\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>The building\u2019s period of glory was during the 18th century, when it was managed by the Dominican order, and served as a place of learning and work for important figures of Canarian art and culture. Following the departure of the Dominican order, the building was used as a secondary school and military barracks, until it was decided to dedicate the building to the creation of a museum.<\/p>\n<h2>The Museum<\/h2>\n<p>The museum is divided into various rooms, which hold excellent examples of popular art ranging in origin from America to the Philippines. There are both permanent and temporary exhibitions to showcase the art.<\/p>\n<h2>Opening hours and prices<\/h2>\n<p>The MAIT is open from Monday to Friday 10am \u2013 3pm.
