It covers around 46 hectares and is one of the most spectacular spots on the island.<\/p>\n<p>This natural paradise is home to lots of animal and plant species, many of which are endemic to <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/\">Tenerife<\/a>, including the Phoenix canariensis palm tree, tajinastes, and tabaibal-cardonal heathers. It is also important for local wildlife, as the ecosystem is essential for the survival of certain species, including the Gallot\u2019s lizard, the West Canary Skink, and several birds.<\/p><div id=\"goten-2202563408\" class=\"goten-content_2 goten-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0088719563045673\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0088719563045673\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>In Rambla de Castro, several buildings stand out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hacienda y Casona de Castro<\/strong>. Former farmhouse belonging to the Bethencourt y Castro family, built in the 16th Century. Today it is public property and operates as a visitor centre.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chapel of San Pedro<\/strong> (<em>Ermita de San Pedro<\/em>). 16th Century Catholic church belonging to the Hacienda de Castro. Inside, it holds the image of the Apostle Saint Peter, which is a work from the 17th Century.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fort of San Fernando<\/strong> (<em>Fort\u00edn de San Fernando<\/em>). Small 18th Century fort. Used to defend the north coast of Tenerife from the pirate attacks it suffered during this era.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Elevador de Aguas de Gordejuela<\/strong><\/em>.
