{"id":106,"date":"2019-10-01T18:13:56","date_gmt":"2019-10-01T17:13:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=106"},"modified":"2023-02-05T11:58:28","modified_gmt":"2023-02-05T11:58:28","slug":"la-laguna-cathedral","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/la-laguna-cathedral\/","title":{"rendered":"Cathedral of San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Cathedral of San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna<\/strong>, or <strong>La Laguna Cathedral<\/strong> (<em>Catedral de La Laguna<\/em>), is in an exceptional location in the northeast of Tenerife, right in the historical centre of <a href=\"https:\/\/gotenerife.net\/en\/explore\/historical-centre-la-laguna\/\">San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna<\/a> which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Cathedral is surrounded by historical buildings and has a majestic atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>Officially known as the <em>Santa Iglesia Catedral de San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna<\/em>, construction started in the 16<sup>th<\/sup> Century and it has since undergone changes and reconstructions, of which the most significant were at the end of the 18<sup>th<\/sup> Century, which gave it its current appearance.<\/p><div id=\"goten-1107640386\" class=\"goten-content_2 goten-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-0088719563045673\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-0088719563045673\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>It was declared a <strong>National Historic-Artistic Monument<\/strong> late last century.<\/p>\n<h2>History and Architecture<\/h2>\n<p>At the start of the 16<sup>th<\/sup> Century, in what was La Laguna\u2019s centre, the construction of a church that would come to be known as <em>Nuestra Senora de Los Remedios<\/em> began. Then at the beginning on the 19<sup>th<\/sup> Century, the old <em>Iglesia de los Remedios<\/em> was reconstructed to its current form, changed its name and acquired Cathedral status.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Cathedral has a <strong>neogothic style<\/strong> with two ribbed vaults from each side and a stone cross crowning the centre of the main fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n<p>But the most striking part of the Cathedral of San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna is inside, where it holds a vast and interesting artistic and cultural heritage.
